Position Title: Manager

Position Overview
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Evansville District, operates a Thrift Store, which serves as a source of income to support the charitable works of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. It also provides clothing, furniture and other household items for neighbors in need who have obtained vouchers from St. Vincent de Paul Conferences. The Manager of the Thrift Store organizes and coordinates the employees and volunteers, manages the assets, solicits in-kind and monetary donations, and assists the Thrift Store Advisory Committee in formulating the policies and services of the Thrift Store. The Manager reports to the Evansville District Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul through its Executive Director.
Principle Accountabilities
- Manage and motivate a workforce of approximately 80 employees and volunteers.
- Solicit in kind and monetary donations.
- Manage inventory, account for expenditures, and prepare reports for the Evansville District Council.
- Coordinate donation pick-ups, deliveries of household furniture and donation drives.
- Empower and collaborate with the Thrift Store Advisory Committee.
- Report periodically to the District Council, its President, and the Executive Director.
- Working on some Saturdays will be required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Leadership skills.
- Customer Service skills.
- Knowledge of retails sales.
- Ability to motivate employees and utilize their talents and abilities.
- Ability to speak to a variety of people ranging from donors to neighbors in need; bilingual ability would be a plus.
- Physical stamina would be helpful.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s license
- Familiarity with Point of Sale Systems and associated software programs for reporting and analysis,
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to see the face of Christ in and be the face of Christ to our neighbors in need.
