The 9th Annual Friday Knights Hunger Bowl Returns September 12 to Benefit St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry
Evansville, IN — The 9th Annual Friday KNIGHTS Hunger Bowl will be held on Friday, September 12 at Enlow Field at Bosse High School. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m., and the evening will feature a spirited matchup between the Reitz Memorial Tigers and the Mater Dei Wildcats: all for a great cause!
The Hunger Bowl raises vital funds for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, one of the area’s largest emergency food distribution centers. This beloved community tradition has already raised more than $130,000 over the past eight years, and this year’s goal is to raise an additional $40,000.
Started by Knight John Sandwell of Auxilio Knights of Columbus Council 16454, the Hunger Bowl was inspired by a similar event in Florida. What began as a small fundraiser bringing in just over $3,000 has now grown into a major community effort, thanks to ongoing collaboration between local K of C councils, Catholic schools, and community supporters.
“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of Memorial and Mater Dei, their students, and the broader community,” said Ashley Newell, Executive Director at St. Vincent de Paul. “This event is a shining example of what we can do when we come together to serve our neighbors in need.”
All are encouraged to attend the game and give generously. Every dollar raised helps feed local families, and this year, the need is more urgent than ever. The Friday Knights Hunger Bowl will continue to collect money at the football game. To support the event, use the button below to donate online today!
